I’ll admit I am no slave to fashion; I look forward to work-from-home Fridays because I have no one to impress but myself. However, after perusing my closet for something to wear this morning, I was reminded of many ideas we at InkHouse keep in mind during the summer hours. Here are five PR tips from your summer closet:
Pinterest is taking the social Web by storm. For those who haven’t received an invitation, Pinterest is an online, free form of scrapbooking that allows users to “pin” photos of admirable fashions, creative crafts or virtually anything of usual interest from around the Web. Recently awarded the Crunchies Best New Start Up of 2011 Award, it’s no secret that Pinterest is gaining traction.
But Pinterest can be – and is becoming – so much more, because of its “social curation” model and incredibly simple user interface.
As I’m riding home from Waltham on MBTA’s 554 bus, I see the war veteran chef, the knitting shop owner, the sleep-deprived student and the tattooed caregiver. I never thought that public transportation and PR would have any overlap, but I catch myself and my PR habits wanting to uncover the story behind each of these fellow commuters. I just dove into a career in PR this summer and have quickly learned that this is exactly what PR is about – exposing the storyline and connecting disparate bits of information. My coworker Jim, found a correlation with PR and his spin class; I found similarities during my commute with MBTA.
